Thanks to Robert Mote (Canberra) for the information below. Elizabeth and James were married by banns by Richard Hainsby (or possibly Stainby), curate, and the witnesses were Charles and Elizabeth Kirshaw. Both James and "Bettey" signed their names and were members of the Parish. She was buried circa 4 October 1818 at Devonshire Street cemetery, Sydney, NSW, and was moved to La Perouse in 1901 when the cemetery made way for Central Railway Station. The headstone reads - Sacred To the memory of Mrs Betty Bean Wife of Mr Jas. Bean (Senior) Who departed this life October 2nd, 1818 aged 64 years Affliction sure long time I bore Physicians were in vain Til death did please to give me ease And free me from my pain. She was a passenger aboard HMS Buffalo which sailed from England, in 1798 and arrived in Port Jackson on 3 May 1799.
