Joseph Goodwin was married to Ann in England and had a daughter born in England. He was then sent to Australia as a convict. Once released from servitude he was given a grant of land, and his wife and daughter came to join him in Australia.

There was a Joseph Goodwin on the 1849 voyage of the Adelaide, who was tried in Stafford in 1848 and sentenced to 7 years, but I have yet to confirm that this is the same Joseph Goodwin (although it is likely).
